On 30 January 2024, the former BBMRI.at director highlighted the relevance of standards for laboratory diagnostics, with special attention on the pre-analytical phase. He explained how implementation of these standards in diagnostic laboratories is also essential for meeting the GSPR of the European Union.

"Standardized Pre-analytics: The Key for Reliable and Sensitive Molecular Cancer Diagnostics & Research"

Presentation "Standardization of quality – a key factor to improving quality in COVID-19 diagnostics" by Prof. Kurt Zatloukal, Director BBMRI.at and former SPIDIA4P project partner, at the BY-COVID industry event "Date driven innovation in infecious diseases", February 2023.

Prof. Zatloukal presented results from his and his team´s research on pre-analytical conditions and stressed the benefits of standardizing quality in diagnostics.
In the context of the pan-European distributed research infrastructure Erinha, the researchers from Graz invested SARS-CoV-2 stability under various pre-analytical conditions, such as different sample collection devices and stabilizers as well as storage conditions.
